History: The Society was founded back in 1949 as a Scottish/Danish friendship society with the aim of deepening the cultural understanding between the two countries, which are in so many ways connected.
The Society has its name from the Scottish patron saint St. Andrew. Till this date the highest honour you can get in Scotland is the "Order of the Thistle" i.e. the St. Andrew Order instituted by James VII. We celebrate St. Andrew each year in the month of November.
The Society´s "flagship" is the yearly celebration of the Scottish national poet Robert Burns. Held in January
is a party full of Scottish traditions incl. the national dish "haggis". A
speaker gives "The Immortal Memory" about the life of Burns with many
references to his songs and poems. Bagpiping, Scottish country dancing and other
simple celidh dancing.
